The area
|
The Asolo area can be divided into two natural districts: the Asolo district in a strict sense and the district at the foot of Mount Grappa. Twelve municipalities arranged in a ring around their geographic and moral centre: the beautiful Veneto town of Asolo, the ancient Acelum of Titus Livius or Livy. Lapped on the west by the waters of the river Brenta and on the east by those of the river Piave, protected to the north by the Grappa massif, the area gently slopes downwards and southwards towards the plain between the Provinces of Treviso and Vicenza. It is one of the loveliest and most welcoming parts of north Italy. The balance between economic development and landscape, human settlement and nature has attracted over the years a never-ending procession of poets, actors, writers, philosophers, musicians, architects and designers. Aesthetic qualities of life that have also contributed to forming a solid business base which can be successfully projected beyond the national boundaries.
The productive fabric of Asolo is an important part of the Trevisan economy, which is one of the most open and dynamic multi-specialized business systems in Italy. The province is known worldwide for the hardworking nature of its people and the competence of its entrepreneurs; it has seen the development of the "Veneto model", which has greatly boosted regional wellbeing in the last decades as well as being renowned abroad. The industrial sector of the March represents almost 50% in terms of employment and in particular the manufacturing activities, which are the true engine of Trevisan economy, 67.6% of which are handicraft enterprises and 97.6% are small with less than 50 employees. The services sector is divided into trade, public premises and services. The services are mainly for companies, but there is a significant and increasing presence of services for individual persons. For some time now a major part of the revenue derived from “made in Treviso” products comes from exports. Of note in this sense is the textile, clothing and footwear sector, which represents over 30% of Trevisan exports with skills known worldwide, such as: knitwear, sports footwear, active sportswear in general and certain tailored products made by experienced workshops. These are followed in order of importance by the industrial and agricultural mechanics sectors as well as the wood-furnishing sector that offers kitchens, living rooms, bedrooms and office furniture.
