Globalization has brought about sudden changes on the international competitive scene, putting in doubt development models and hierarchies among economic areas that had become firmly established over many centuries. This history-making turning point, which may be attributed to a complex combination of technological, economic and social factors, has coincided in Europe with other significant macroeconomic adjustments: transfers of production, labour market reforms, emergence of new social needs, mobility of resources and the failure of some national economic-monetary policy instruments. A gap has been created in these circumstances between economic areas capable of construing the changes as opportunities and those that are as yet unable to do so.
The Fondazione firmly believes in change as an opportunity for development, in design and creativity as competitive factors in a knowledge-based economy, in new businesses as a tool for planting the seed and spreading innovation, in competitiveness of firms as a result of the competitiveness of a region, in the network as a tool for sharing objectives and resources between those involved in a single region.
The Fondazione’s mission is to encourage processes of creation and spreading of innovation in businesses, particularly new ones, and in the region with the aim of linking up the local system to the dynamics of knowledge-based economy so that its economic, cultural and social potential may be completely fulfilled.
